/\ 1 Zenas Crocker
Zenas is the first initiated brother into our 96 year old chapter. Zenas was from Osterville, MA, down on the
Cape. He’s from a line of Zenas
Crockers that go back to the 1700’s there.
The family name and homestead is still in the Crocker family.
Zenas had a role in the
national fraternity as well at the time.
He was the
Supreme Eminent Quæstor, 1913-1914;
and Grand High Tau, 1914. (100-0001)
SEQ was the grand high inquisitor.

Zenas’s son Zenas was also a LCA here, class of
’52, /\ 318. From a note from the younger Zenas ...
Dear Steve,
Once again I will be unable to attend your Founder's Day event since I reside
in Florida until June each year. Hopefully, when I am really old, now 81,
and no longer traveling, I,ll be able to join you in Boston. I
believe my Dad was Lambda # 1 and instrumental in founding the Chapter.
He maintained a close association with the members during his lifetime, and
often had brothers visit him at Oyster Harbors on the Cape. You
may also be interested to know that my father held a
mortgage on the original Fraternity House on Beacon street, which
he forfeited in exchange for my room and board my first two years at
MIT. I remember my years there with great feelings!! Best regards,
and best wishes to my old friends and to all your attendees. Zenas
